1. About The Game
=================

Barren is a 2D point and click adventure
game played through the eyes of the player
(scene by screen scrolling).

The Barren story is placed in a
SF-phantasmagoria type of setting where
you play a humanoid creature of unknown
origin stranded in a strange world.

Barren is a relatively short adventure
game, spans over some 25 scenes, but
features a fair amount of cut scenes and
some interesting surprises.

This game is FREEWARE. I take NO
responsibility for any damage or loss of data
etc. that may occur by installing/using this
software. As FREEWARE, I offer no liability
to provide maintenance of the software or
technical support. You are allowed and

All the original content in this game is
copyrighted, from the graphics, music to
story. You are not allowed to use it in
your own projects, freeware or not.

2. Running The Game
===================

Double click on the Barren.exe file.

You can set the game resolution before
starting it via setup menu (320*240 or
640*480). You can also choose will the game
start full screen or not, color bit-depth,
screen doubling filter (if playing in
640*480) and font style.

3. Playing The Game
===================

Barren is an intuitive point and click game,
but its entire mechanics/rules are also
explained in the instructions.html hyper-text
document. So you shouldn't have problems
there.

On the main menu use the arrows to scroll
through options, and click on them to choose
them.

You have 4 save game slots available and
you can overwrite a used save game slot as
many times necessary.

Beside that you should be aware that you can
change the duration of text messages in the
game by using the appropriate option in the
game options.

The duration of text messages does not apply
on the game cut scenes.

That was a huge success. ;)

complete this game.

5. Troubleshooting/Q&A
======================

#1 Can I take a screenshot of the game?
---------------------------------------
Never! I mean, yes. Just use the Print
Screen button and the game screen will
be saved in your clipboard. This works
in Linux? :P

#2 The game runs too slow on my PC.
-----------------------------------
Liar! But, does it matter? :P

#3 I can't many any progress in this game.
------------------------------------------
I do deliver walkthroughs to...
"special" friends. ;)

#4 I can't pause during the game.
---------------------------------
Make sure you put your whole head in
front of the shotgun. Thank you!

#5 The story makes no sense. I must
-----------------------------------
know why, when, where. And the game
-----------------------------------
needs a murder mistery!
----------------------
Oh, for Pete's sake!

#6 Was this section really necessary?
-------------------------------------
No.

6. Version updates
==================

Version 1.2 (07.06.2008) - A gameplay critical
bug fixed. One of the game triggers wasn't reset
properly once you executed it in one game. If you
played a new game after that action has been
triggered in any of the previous games or after
you loaded a saved game with this trigger
changed, you were able to finish the game
without having to execute this action that was
solved (triggered) in a previous game.
